Hi, just found this - I hope it's ok to join in and catch up even though I'm a few weeks behind (it's not like I've got anything else to do till CV clears off!).

I've always wanted to build a proper game for years - many years ago I used to play around with a package called AMOS on the Commodore Amiga and made a few small games on there - I put them out to public domain but never did anything really big with them.

For years I've been toying with the idea of creating a 3D version of an adventure game I used to play on the ZX Spectrum - many years ago I did mention it to the guy who wrote the original game if it would be ok to recreate his game as a 3D adventure rather than just a text adventure game and got quite a nice response where he told me he'd be honoured if I did.

The game idea I have is only a basic adventure game and it pretty much consists of one simple puzzle in a single room so I guess it can't be that hard to create as a first game. I am friends with another adventure game developer on facebook and I asked him which software packages he used for his games (Dark Fall & Lost Crown) and he said both Unity and Adventure Game Creator - so I'm going to give Unity a go.

I have a bit of knowledge of coding as I have a HND in Software Engineering and am very good with computers as I'm on the autistic spectrum and have used computers since I was about 7.

@Gregory Lane - thanks for the reply - yeah I'll take a look at that - only slight problem I'm finding though is some of the example games have at the beginning - the platformer and the 3d racing game have both been updated to 2019 and the 3D racing game seems quite a bit different to the tutorial now as there is no skidding option or speed displayed on screen any more. I can see roughly that 2019 seems to work similar to 2018 though so hopefully if this is only the two example games affected then I'll be able to carry on.

Glad you can join us! Beyond this series of live tutorials, i suggest you check out the Creator Kit: Beginner Code project. (https://learn.unity.com/project/creator-kit-beginner-code) It may be a great jumping off point as you think about how to develop an adventure game!
