Laura Jefchak
I grow tired of having my freedoms legislated away for my own good. If I choose to climb a tree, fall out, break my arm, then it’s on me. I have to pay for it because I made a choice. It’s not the tree’s fault. It’s not the fault of the person who has the tree growing in their yard. It’s not the fault of the city who maintains the grounds of the park the tree resides in. If I become broken, it’s my responsibility. The same thing applies to any number of other things. If I choose to smoke, it’s on me. Sure, tobacco companies add things, but by its nature, nicotiana tabacum is addictive. Should I be warned about addiction? Yes! Like any body, mind, or spiritual altering substance, I should be warned about the hazards of using said product. This applies to creams, food and religion. If my smoke offends you, politely ask me to move down wind of you. If you’re nice about it, and considerate, I will very likely be considerate in return. Or just move upwind. Consideration is a lost art.
