What is the relationship between the Hierarchy window and the Scene view?

When a GameObject is selected in one, it is also selected in the other.

They both display the contents of the current Scene.

While the Hierarchy window shows you the names of GameObjects and their parent-child relationships, the Scene view displays those same objects in simulated space.

One environment, level, or display in your game.

Scenes are containers for everything in the experience you are creating. One way to think about Scenes is as discrete experiences. For example, each level in a game could be a separate Scene, and the game’s main menu could be another.

What happens when you select a GameObject in the Scene view?

Its components appear in the Inspector window.

A preview of the GameObject appears in the Game view.

A preview of the GameObject appears in the Inspector window.

Its components appear in the Console window.

The Inspector window displays the selected GameObject’s components, providing all the details about that GameObject.
