Get the setup wizard

The setup wizard is your first step to creating with Unity. This brief tutorial will get you started, whether you are a first-time user or returning user.

Before you begin this project, check that your computer meets the requirements for Unity. Unity can be installed on Windows and macOS. Support for Linux is in preview, which means that it will work but you might encounter some bugs. There are some minimum system requirements for Unity to run well.

Unity cannot currently be installed on tablets or Chrome OS.

1. Go to the Unity download page.

2. Select the right option for you: First-time user or Returning user. (If you’ve already completed either one of these, skip ahead — you’re ready to Explore a Microgame!)

• First-time users: select the Start here button as shown above to download Unity with the new-user installation wizard, which will guide you through the best installation for an absolute beginner. Next, select Agree and download to download the setup file. Then continue below.
• Returning users: select the Go here button as shown above to download the Unity Hub directly. Select this option if you already have a Unity ID. Next, agree to the terms of service, and select Download Unity Hub to download the setup file. Then skip ahead to Explore a Microgame.

In the next tutorial, you’ll explore Unity plans and identify the right plan for you. After that, you’ll use the installation wizard to install Unity and select your first Microgame.

We’ll also provide an overview of the manual approach to installing Unity (including creating a Unity ID and downloading the Hub), in case you’re a returning user who wants to refresh your knowledge.
