Languages available:
1. Instructions
1. Research a Bleeding-Edge Technology
Choose one of the future XR technologies described in the project - My Implants Don’t Distinguish Between Realities, or another that you’re interested in. Ideally the technology you choose would be relevant to your own application concept or the application that you evaluated in How Google Cardboard Brought VR to the Masses, or both.
For example:
- The convergence of AR, VR, and MR
- The development of advanced haptic gloves or bodysuits
- Integration of eye tracking technology
- Voice or gesture controls
- Ubiquitous mobile, wearable MR
Spend some time researching this technology online, being sure to take notes and capture links to the most useful web resources you find.
2. Draft a Research Brief
Summarize your research in a short brief . Create and upload a document as specified in the submission instructions.
3. Apply Your Research
Revisit the Application Evaluation that you completed in How Google Cardboard Brought VR to the Masses or the Product Brief for your application concept that you completed in Get Ready, Get Set, Pokemon GO!. Add the elements to your documentation.
2. Self Review
Once you have created your documentation, review and grade it to the rubric shown below.
Research Brief
- Exceeds Expectations - The executive summary is very descriptive but concise. The key players analysis includes detailed profiles of at least 3 companies. The impact section defines at least 2 industries or markets and at least 2 specific types of users that are impacted. The timeline section describes 4-5 key dates related to the technology. Sources in the references section are authoritative, properly formatted, and each source is cited at least once in the brief.
- Meets Requirements - All of the sections are present and complete. At least 1 key player is profiled. At least 1 industry and 1 type of user is defined in the impact section. The timeline section describes 2-3 key dates. Sources included in the references section clearly relate to the topic, and are properly formatted.
- Does Not Meet Requirements - Few sections may be incomplete or lacking in specific detail. References included are not cited and the references themselves lack relevance or quality.
- Incomplete - Incomplete - More than half of the required assignment elements are missing.
Product Brief/App Evaluation Updates
- Exceeds Expectations - The submission clearly and persuasively defines at least 2 positive and at least 2 negative potential impacts of the technology to the application. The submission describes at least 3 specific, actionable updates to the application, and explains why each of them would be beneficial.
- Meets Requirements - The submission defines both a positive and negative potential impacts of the technology to the application. The submission describes at least 1 specific, actionable update to the application, and explains why it would be beneficial.
- Does Not Meet Requirements - The submission does not define both a positive and a negative potential impact. The submission describes only generic update recommendations, or does not clarify why the update would be beneficial.
- Incomplete - More than half of the application elements are missing.
If you feel your documentation does not meet the the above noted requirements, review and redefine them so that they do.
