Languages available:
1. Welcome!
Welcome to Unity’s Professional Development for Instructors, and congratulations on beginning your journey to bring Unity into your classroom! By investing three hours per week over three weeks, you will take the first steps towards bringing Unity certifications to your learners. And the best part is, when you choose to spend those three hours per week is entirely up to you! This professional development is designed to be self-paced, while still supporting you whenever you need throughout.
You’ll proceed in these three weeks alongside a cohort of fellow educators who will be completing the same content. You and others in the course will support each other and provide each other feedback along the way.
To prepare for your professional development experience, watch the welcome video below, then follow a few brief steps to set yourself up for success. We look forward to meeting you soon!
2. Set up Discord
Communication for this professional development will take place primarily on Discord. Our goal is to make this communication easy and succinct, therefore there are not a lot of channels in PD. After getting your invite and logging into the Discord server, familiarize yourself with the channels available to you:
- A welcome channel - this is where you should start when you first join the Discord server.
- A main PD Channel - this is where you'll be posting. These posts can be for support, general discussion, or to share your work.
Click on this private link inviting you to the Discord group. Simply follow that link to join and explore your Discord channels.

NOTE: If you log into the Discord server and your channel list does not appear like the screenshot above, make sure the “Show All Channels” checkbox is checked in the server drop-down menu!

3. Prepare for the live events
This professional development also includes two live events: the Course Kick-off, and the Course Wrap-up.
To accommodate different time zones and schedules, there are time slots for each event:
- Option 1: 9am PT / 12pm ET
- Option 2: 5pm PT / 8pm ET
All members of the course are invited to join in both of these events, where you’ll be able to meet up with your course instructor, ask any questions you have, and celebrate the work you’ve accomplished.
- Click on this link to REGISTER now.
- Once registered, you will receive a Zoom confirmation email from Thomas Winkley, your course instructor. From this email, you can load the Zoom events into your personal calendar for quick access and reminders.
- This single registration enrolls you in both events and both time slots. You just need to come to the time slot that works for you.
- Finally, make a mental note of the course kick-off event date, as it will be coming up quickly!
4. Complete the pre-course survey
To best understand your professional development needs, and the needs of Unity educators like you, we have developed a brief pre-course survey. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey now.
Access the pre-course survey here.
5. Remember to join us for the kick-off event!
We’ll see you at the live kick-off event! You can also see details about this event and other upcoming live events in the Upcoming Live Event section of your course home page.

Make sure you have the event in your calendar!
