15. Unity Engine Diagnostics & Developer Data Framework
Join a new Pro Hour session on the new Engine Diagnostics and Developer Data Framework with Ashley McKemie, product manager for Engine Data, Peter Hall, engineering manager for Profiling and Optimization, and Davi Albuquerque, engineering manager for Observability and Diagnostics.
Here's the problem every live-game team knows: what you can reproduce at your desk isn't what your players hit in the wild. A build that's stable on your test devices still crashes, stalls, or runs out of memory across thousands of devices, OS versions, and sessions you'll never watch directly. Locally you can't see it, so you can't fix it. This session is about closing that gap.
We'll follow a real live-game team's journey from a tuned build to a healthy game in production:
- Before launch: find and fix performance problems with the Unity Profiler and Project Auditor.
- In production: monitor and optimize with Engine Diagnostics to trace a crash or ANR to its root cause, compare versions to catch a regression an update introduced, and isolate a slowdown that only shows up on specific devices.
Introduced in Unity 6.2, the Developer Data Framework and Engine Diagnostics give you explicit control over how diagnostic, analytics, and performance data is collected from your game, and turn it into workflows your team can act on.
16. Content Directory
Learn about Content Directory, the new content backend we're introducing in 6.6, and the first step towards a foundational change to how Unity builds, ships and loads game content.
