Mission 1 - Editor Essentials: In-Editor

In this mission, you’ll explore a playground scene and design a mural to get comfortable with the Unity interface.

Before you begin, make sure you have the Unity Hub and Unity version 6.0 or newer installed.

Tip: If you’re not sure how to install or update Unity, follow these steps to download a new version of the Editor with the Unity Hub.

Once you’re ready, continue to the next step to launch your project.

If you haven’t already opened the Unity Essentials in-Editor Pathway project, you can launch the project directly using the Unity Hub. 

In the Hub, select the New project button.



At the top of the New project window, ensure Unity 6.0 (or later) is selected.



Select the Learning tab from the left-most panel to access Unity’s learning templates.



5.  Select the Essentials Pathway project:

This template includes all the assets you need to start learning.

Enter a name for the project and choose a suitable location on your computer to save it. 

Select the Create project button and wait for the project to open. 

The Unity Editor will open with a dialog, welcoming you to the pathway.

It’s now time to complete the in-Editor tutorials for this Mission. When you are finished with the tutorials in the Editor, you will be directed back here to Unity Learn where you’ll complete the quiz and earn the XP and badge for the Mission.
