Game Summary: The Dreamer is about exploring the word of dreams as well as revealing the symbolic way of our thinking. It is mostly an informative game about sleep and dreams in art history and its impact on artists. Also it shows our prejudices which are destroyed in favor of unpredictable events. Core Mechanics: Walking, running, jumping, interacting Heart Rate of player resembles the one in real life - when it is too low or too high the dream is restarted as if the player would wake up Interactions, unpredictable events, running and jumping makes Heart Rate higher Player can lower Heart Rate if he consumes items like lavender or lemon balm One level is cut on four REM part between in which the screen makes black for few seconds to disturb the player Whole level is time-limited and the progress is saved in one particular place - the bedroom of the player Gameplay: The gameplay resembles a 2D platformer, but with non straight way, the player can go upside down with the gravity always from his leg to the ground. This way it’s also strange to navigate the player as we used to. There are simple linear puzzles like opening the door with the key. The main aim is to survive and go to the next level within time. Music: Sounds of the character are cozy - landing on the ground, walking or running - it makes the player sympathetic with the character. Sounds of the environment can be cold but also engaging to the exploration and curiosity. Music is emotional, some of which reminds me of Tony Anderson Chasm or Pensees, Menual - Compass. Also there could be lofi vibes with a more adventurous atmosphere. Art Style: Line Art with pastels or unsaturated colors. The art style could resemble Spiritferer or Gris. About: The game starts in the bedroom of the player. As she goes forward (from left to right in 2D space) she experiences an unusual, sometimes surrealistic environment with strange behavior. She sees her memories, her environment in real life but with additional emotional impact. For example deciding what to put on to school in reality can make in a dream a scene when the clothes are chasing the player. One thought in reality makes the whole world in the dreams. But the game shows only the dreamer side without explanation. Each level represents one thema eg. The dream in school relates to that environment, people, board with chalks, desks, educational thoughts etc. The dream in forest relates to nature, trees, forest animals, ecological thoughts. The dream in public transport is involving cars, buses, trams, trains street with signalisation (which could have others states than green red orange).
