Make gameplay frame rate independent to improve older hardware. Learn factors, pros/cons, and set up using delta time, fixed steps, and interpolation.

Set up 2D player movement with Unity’s Input System. Learn to build basic character controller frame rate independent movement.

An engaging world to explore is a critical aspect of your 2D adventure game. In this unit, you’ll take your tilemap from placeholder to fully-realized game environment and implement basic physics so the player character can begin to interact with it.

You’ve set up a health system, but at the moment the player has no way to know what their character’s health actually is. In this unit, you’ll create a heads-up display (HUD) interface and configure it to show the player character’s health level.

By the end of this unit you’ll be able to do the following:

Create a basic display interface using UI Toolkit.

Change the size of a UI element based on the player character’s health.

Create a simple game loop defining end conditions for your game.
