This is an in-depth guide that will walk you from building a level using ProBuilder and PolyBrush through to using all the interactive features and set dressing found in the 3D Game Kit. Most of the tutorial steps can be used as stand alone walkthroughs but please refer to the related tutorials throughout for a more in-depth understanding. If you want to get up to speed quickly please refer to the Quick Start Guide as it has smaller and more self contained tutorials and examples. To begin, make a new scene by following the instructions in Step 2 of the Quick Start Guide .

The 3D Game Kit allows you to create 3D platformer gameplay and puzzles in Unity without code. This document describes each component you can use in the Kit to create your game, including what the components do and what the settings in those components are. If you are new to Unity, we recommend you go through our Platformer , FPS , Karting , or LEGO® Microgame tutorials to familiarize yourself with the Unity interface and concepts. You can also download the 2D Game Kit which will introduce you to the systems and concepts within a 2D environment. More information on Unity can be found on our Learn Site . The best way to use this document is like a reference guide, searching by the component or setting you want to know more about. To learn the basics of how to use the Game Kit, check out the Quick Start Guide which provides a good foundation on using the Kit. The Start example game included in this project uses all the components we provided for gameplay. To get inspiration or an example of how to use a GameObject, explore levels 1 and 2 in the Scenes > GamePlay folder. In this pathway, you'll master the fundamental skills needed for game development with Unity, including programming in C#, audio, visual effects, user interfaces, animation, materials, and lighting. You’ll first create a simple 3D game and then a 2D game. Throughout the rest of the pathway, you can choose if you want to continue developing in 3D, in 2D, or both. You’ll make a game design document outlining your vision for how to turn those prototypes into unique, polished, final products. Level of Detail, also known as LOD, helps with scene rendering by reducing the topology, or lowering the polygon count, of a given object within a scene based on the distance from the camera. Objects can have multiple LODs; the number of LODs is determined by the complexity of the object and how nicely the object will render when moving away from or closer to the camera. In this tutorial, you wil learn to create LODs.
