Start here to learn Visual Scripting, whether you are new to Unity or an experienced Unity programmer. In this project, you will learn the windows and tools in Unity’s Visual Scripting user interface. If you are new to programming, you will learn the basics of programming along the way. In this recorded training session from November 2014, we demonstrate how to add sound effects to your game that are triggered by game events, using C# scripting. We also review the main audio components of Unity: Audio Listeners, Audio Sources and Audio Clips.

The Unity Editor enables you with the tools to work with scripts in the C# programming language. You can easily incorporate and attach custom script components onto GameObjects, which can control their functionality in any manner of customization. In this tutorial, you will learn how to script with basic C# commands to trigger and control audio sound effects in your Scene, as well as customize certain audio properties such as incorporating conditional statements and elements of randomization. You will learn how to use C# scripting to trigger and customize GameObject and sound features including: Scripting a character controller to shoot cube projectiles. Scripting a sound effect to play when shooting projectiles. Scripting a smashing sound to play, when blocks are hit. Scripting variances in pitch, by incorporating randomness. Scripting a conditional statement to play different sound clips, depending on how hard the blocks are hit. By the end of the tutorial, you will have a solid understanding of how scripting with audio works, and how easy it is to create customized audio events.

Challenge Overview: Use the skills you learned in the Sumo Battle prototype in a completely different context: the soccer field. Just like in the prototype, you will control a ball by rotating the camera around it and applying a forward force, but instead of knocking them off the edge, your goal is to knock them into the opposing net while they try to get into your net. Just like in the Sumo Battle, after every round a new wave will spawn with more enemy balls, putting your defense to the test. However, almost nothing in this project is functioning! It’s your job to get it working correctly. As you do so, you will combine what you have learned about test scripts, exploratory testing, and bug reporting and practice all three throughout the challenge. Challenge Outcome: Enemies move towards your net, but you can hit them to deflect them away Powerups apply a temporary strength boost, then disappear after 5 seconds When there are no more enemy balls, a new wave spawns with 1 more enemy

Clive the Cat is a Sokoban-style game. Clive wants his food dish — but first he must navigate through his maze-like crypt, figure out how to open doors, and find ways to pass around various obstacles — even a fox! In this project, you’ll develop several visual scripts to add a new level to the Clive the Cat game. Along the way, you’ll learn intermediate and advanced techniques in Visual Scripting including super units, events, and State Machines. If you are unfamiliar with the user interface of Visual Scripting (formerly called Bolt), you can begin with the Introduction to Visual Scripting, even if you have never programmed before.
