Swords and Shovels Character Controller and AI
Project
Intermediate
1 Hour5 Mins
Character control in a click-to-move top-down game requires a pathfinding system to allow freedom of player movement. In this project, Swords and Shovels Character Controller and AI, you’ll learn how to work with Navmesh and Navmesh agents, setup character animation, and write code to create a character controller. First, you’ll discover how to bake a Navmesh in a game level. Next, you’ll explore how to work with a Navmesh Agent and animation to control character movement. Finally, you’ll learn how to write code and fine tune the system. When you’re finished with the project, you’ll understand how to author a top-down character controller.

Getting Started with Unity 2018 - The Fundamentals
Project
Beginner
5 Hours25 Mins
In this project, you will get to learn about the core tools and workflows necessary to create in Unity. You'll start off by introducing the interface and core workflows and then transition to prototyping your ideas based on a game design document. You'll build some basic systems all the while learning how Unity creates behaviors through game objects and components. From there, you will create a basic level using ProBuilder, a feature that allows artists and designers to create models right in the Editor. You'll also explore importing final art assets, configuring Prefabs, lighting scenes, creating VFX, configuring animated characters, implementing user feedback like audio and user interfaces, and so much more. The project will wrap up by adding the final touches to your game by utilizing Post Processing and Cinemachine cameras. This project is designed to get you creating in Unity quickly, so be sure to follow along with the rest of the Unity Fundamentals path on Pluralsight to see the depth of each feature Unity has to offer.

ShaderGraph: Height to Normal Node
Tutorial
Intermediate
10 Mins
One of the more common texture map types is the Normal map. There may be some situations in which you will have height map information for your mesh, but not a normal map. Fortunately, the Shader Graph allows you to generate Normal map data from Height map data. To do this, you’ll use a Normal Create node. This node allows you to supply a black and white Height map texture to generate a Normal map. This becomes very useful when you’re trying to add additional detail to your Shader’s surface to determine how it should interact with the light and how it should appear to the viewer.

Learn how to rig and animate a hero character in Maya and Unity in a game development pipeline. For many, rigging is the last area of game development they want to learn and it's easy to understand why. You don't play a game to be wowed by the controllers used to animate that dragon or marvel at the adventurer's joint system. It's one of those disciplines between forward facing art and back-end design that takes a back seat to most everything else you can see happening on the screen. However, understanding how to rig is what will take your dragon or adventurer character further than ever before and give them potential for a life of their very own. Creating character animation for games is easier than ever, thanks to Maya’s tight integration with Unity. In this course, Game Character Animation in Unity and Maya, you will learn how to create a hero character in Maya and export it to Unity In this course, Game Character Rigging Fundamentals, you will find that rigging doesn't have to be overwhelming if you learn the fundamentals in a comfortable and digestible way.
