Unity allows you to create simple animations using a standard set of tools. In this tutorial, you'll use Unity's keyframes, Playhead, Animation Timeline, and Animation Curves to create simple animations.

A static environment tends to appear unfinished, or cold and unfeeling; animation is all about creating the illusion of life. In this session, you will learn how to create animations in the Unity editor and how to configure animations imported from an external program. You’ll apply these concepts to add animation to objects and characters in your scenes, and even control when the animation gets played.

Animation and rigging is a specialized craft in the development process. Creating animation rigs is a time consuming process and sometimes it takes several people to create a rig that meets all of the needs of a project. With Unity’s Animation Rigging tools, the amount of time and manpower is reduced because of the flexibility and robustness of these tools.

This project will take us through the process of reusing Animation Clips, both imported and custom. We will also review how to retarget imported animation clips on different biped, humanoid models. One of the most powerful features of Mecanim is retargeting of humanoid animations. This means that with relative ease, you can apply the same set of animations to various character models. Keep in mind that retargeting is only possible for humanoid models, where an Avatar has been configured, because this gives us a correspondence between the models’ bone structure. In the Particle System, you can use the Texture Sheet Animation module to select images for the Particle System to use in an animated effect. In this workflow, we’ll set up a Texture Sheet animation to randomly spawn different star images on the particles in a single emitter.

In the Timeline Editor window, you can create cutscenes and animations easily and effectively. In this tutorial, you'll manage your animation and component clips, and position them in Timeline to create a cutscene.

When you wish to make a simple, basic animation of an object within your scene, changing its position, size, or simply rotating it can all be done easily through the Timeline Editor window using keyframe animation. In this tutorial, you'll create a basic animation by recording the changing properties of a GameObject as keyframes in Timeline.

Sprite Animations are animation clips that are created for 2D assets. There are various ways to create Sprite Animations. One way is to create them from a Sprite Sheet, a collection of Sprites arranged in a grid. The Sprites are then compiled into an Animation Clip that will play each Sprite in order to create the animation, much like a flipbook. Sprite Animations can also be created by using keyframe animation in Unity, via the Animation window.
